Ioanna
Voskou was born in Limassol,
Cyprus in 1976. She has graduated from the Athens Technical University,
School of Fine Arts in 2000 after a 5 year course. Ioanna has entered
and finished the University with fa ull scholarship, achiving her
degree with “Honors”. Her major course was in Painting. Ioanna has taken
also additional courses in Icon Painting, Sculpture and Wood Carving
After her
graduation she has participated in several individual and group
exhibitions both in Cyprus and abroad. As an artist, Ioanna is concerned
with the presence and absence of human existence and the role
materialism plays with regard to feelings; however, as she continued to
explore these themes, Ioanna Voskou moved on to another level of
expression and creativity, turning to the camera for inspiration. She is
fascinated by the idea of memory and “keeping moments alive” but also by
the idea that before and after the moment is captured, everything
changes. Thus, through her paintings the viewer encounters an
ever-moving reality in which only the images captured stay behind.
Ioanna has been recently invited
by the well known organisation of Greece, Afisorama, to transform a
number of her paintings into a limited edition prints.
